Basic principle of conveyor chain tensioner
 
    Pull out the locking rod, the plunger will extend out of the hole under the mutual force of the plunger spring to rotate the pawl at the locking plunger. At the same time, the oil pressure from the engine will open the one-way valve, and the oil will immediately enter the high-pressure chamber of the tensioner assembly through the oil supply channel. The oil pressure of the high-pressure chamber and the low-pressure chamber is equal. The tension force of the tensioner is: oil pressure + spring force.
 
    Compress the plunger, close the one-way valve, and the oil in the high-pressure chamber is in a compressed state. Since the compressibility ratio of the oil is small, a large damping is formed. In the whole process of back pressure, the plunger damping is large, reducing the amplitude and transmission noise of the transmission chain. The excess oil leaks to the outside of the assembly through the fitting clearance between the plunger and the housing hole, playing the role of overpressure protection and lubrication system.
